Getting started

Choose your starting point

Databitat does not force everyone through the same path. Begin with the guides that match your actual responsibility.

If you administer an Account

Your goal is to keep the team clearly bounded: members, invitations, working identity, and Place access. Start with Permissions and visibility.

When adding people, explain which Account they will act through and avoid granting more capability than they need.

If you steward a Place's memory

You are responsible for keeping important information with the Place, in context, and ready to outlast a change of team.

Read Document a project or works, Handover to another team, and Ownership and continuity.

If you contribute information

Focus on capturing the fact, choosing the right Place, and leaving clear authorship, date, and visibility. You can enrich the remaining context progressively.

Start with Add, share, and export and the best practices for useful memory.

If you work through an external company

Use the Account representing your company, separate internal drafts from what you share with the Place, and retain the provenance of deliverables.

The Work with an external company workflow explains the recommended path.

If you mainly consult information

First learn where information lives and how Search works. When opening an answer or summary, check its sources, dates, and validation state.

Search Databitat and Traceability, AI, and trust are the most useful guides to begin with.
